| | Born in Albany, NY in 1868. After graduating from Albany High School in 1885, Allen came west the following year and settled in San Francisco. In 1888 she began a two-year study course at the School of Design under Emil Carlsen followed by study under Clara Curtis at the local ASL. She established a studio in the early 1890s and was active in the local art scene. In 1895 she left for an extended stay in France. Intending to return to San Francisco, she suffered an injury and died in a Paris hospital in 1899. Her rare works include floral still lifes. Exh: Sketch Club (SF), 1894; Calif.
