Biography from AskART:
| John Aubery was born in Kassel, Germany. In 1838 he painted in
Paris at the court of Louis Philippe. He then went to Rome for
five years before coming to Cincinnati in about 1853. There he
became a highly influential artist.
In 1860, he exhibited at the National Academy of Design in New York and the Atheneum in Boston.
Aubery
is known as a religious, historical and portrait painter and likely was
the same artist as Jean Aubery and Jean Auberg listed in Ohio in 1859.
