Biography from Wendt Gallery:
Kathy Altieri has been painting professionally for over twenty years. Her passion for the California landscape has its origins in her childhood travels with her family; she grew up in California exploring the beaches, mountains, and deserts. Her paintings are intimate depictions of what inspires and moves her most about nature: its organic rhythms, the mood of the day, and the play of light. Almost all of Kathy's paintings are done on location, not only to capture the spirit of the moment and the place, but also to lend a strong sense of authenticity to what can be a highly creative form of expression.

Kathy has also enjoyed tremendous creative success within the animation industry; most recently as production designer on "Spirit Stallion of the Cimmaron", and as art director on "The Prince of Egypt", both Dreamworks productions.

Her Disney credits include "The Little Mermaid", "Aladdin", "The Lion King", and "The Hunchback of Notre Dame", as background painter, supervisor, or visual development.

Kathy's formal education includes UCLA as a painting, sculpture and graphic arts major and Art Center College of Design, where she was trained as an illustrator. In 1999 she was invited as a distinguished lecturer at the IDEAS student symposium in Melbourne, Australia. She has lectured at San Francisco Art Academy, The Annecy Film Festival, LA Trade Tech College, and The Animation Institute in North Hollywood. Her last solo exhibition was in 1993. Kathy is a patron member of the California Art Club and a member of the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association.
