| Painter. Born in Bay City, Ml on Nov. 20, 1882. Avery was a pupil of Wm M. Chase in NYC, and of Laurens at Académie Julian in Paris. After spending many years in France, he moved to southern California in 1906. He lived in Pasadena until the late 1930s when he moved to Hemet, CA. Avery died there on Sept. 11, 1949.
His specialties were portraits and figure studies.
