Leonardo Airaghi (1871-1900)
His father was Tomaso Airaghi, sculptor. Leonardo married his cousin Sofia Mauri. The Airaghi family was from Campione d'Italia, an Italian enclave on the lake of Lugano, in the Swiss territory of Canton Ticino. In the 12th to 14th centuries, in this small town lived many artists (sculptors, painters, builders) who are called "maestri campionesi" in history of art.
Information provided by the artist's relative, Roberta Simonis.
