This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| The following, submitted November 2004, is from the artist. Margaret Aycock, born May 28, 1956 in Syracuse, NY, is an Impressionist oil painter known for her floral still lifes and bright groupings of beach figures. She also paints portraits and landscapes. She has been painting for over 25 years and has studied with John Szekes, Virginia Jarboe, Hugh Wakinshaw, Xaing Xaing and Jonnie Lihlidahl. Margaret is a member of a portrait group, painting weekly with a live model. Most of her landscapes are painted on site, in and around Tulsa and include historic homes and Osage farm land. Her still-life paintings are arrangements of objects reminiscent of quiet afternoons reading, gardening or having tea with friends. Her beach paintings are influenced by the east coast, particularly North Carolina, where she spent her teenage years living, working, and painting. It is there that she met her first teacher, John Szekes, and began living her life as a painter. Aycockt has participated in many juried shows and in 1997 won second place in a show juried by the editor in chief of "American Artist" Magazine. She won best painting in the Oklahoma Women in the Arts Show in 1995. Her work has been featured annually since 1995 in Tulsa's International Mayfest Juried Show. She has exhibited in numerous shows and galleries throughout the United States.
