Marjorie Nickles Adams was born in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania in 1898. She lived in Media, Pennsylvania and Wilmington, Delaware during her lifetime. She studied at Shippensburg College, Philadelphia Museum School of Industrial Art, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. She became a Fellow of the PAFA and also won the Cresson Traveling Scholarship in 1924. She also studied with Daniel Garber and Hugh Breckenridge at the Chester Springs Summer School of the PAFA.
She exhibited at the PAFA in 1922 and 1923 where she won a prize both times. She exhibited at the Philadelphia Plastic Club where she awards in 1929 and a Gold Medal in 1961.
