Born in a small village in Mexico, Rene Alvarado, a painter of
large-scale stylized religious and symbolic motifs, moved at age five
to Douglas, Wyoming with his family who encouraged his early art
talents. He studied at the San Antonio Art Institute, and then
opened a studio in San Angelo in a former Lutheran Church that has ceilings
high enough to accommodate his creations.
He has also taught art classes.
