| | Born in San Francisco, CA on March 24, 1868. Asher moved to San Diego County in the mid-1890s and worked as a nurseryman. He moved to Mount Palomar in 1903 and lived there for the next 43 years where he became known as the "Hermit of Palomar Mountain." Upon his death in El Cajon, CA on April 25, 1953, his property at Palomar was left to the Baptist Church and is now a children's camp.
