|  Sam Amato was born in New York City on February 23, 1924. Amato studied at the Pratt Institute, New School of Social Research, and University of Los Angeles in the 1940s. He taught at Pratt Institute, Newark Academy of Arts, and Albright Art School until 1954 and then taught at UCLA until 1991. He currently lives in Los Angeles.
Exhibited: Santa Barbara Museum, 1959 (solo); Laguna Beach Art Ass’n, 1966 (solo).
