A painter, sculptor and teacher, Scribner Ames was born in Chicago,
Illinois in 1908. She received a Ph.D. from the University of
Chicago, and attended the school at the Art Institute of Chicago and
was a scholar at the Chicago School of Sculpture.
In addition to studies in Switzerland and Germany, she also studied
under Jose de Creeft and Hans Hofmann in New York City. During
her art career she held various art instruction positions at schools in
New York City and (showing 500 of 1591 characters). |
