| William Aiken was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1934. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Carnegie Institute of Technology. He gained wide recognition during the 1960s and 1970s as one of the leading painters on the West Coast of the United States.
He is the recipient of two Gold Medals of Honor and three Purchase Awards, in addition to several other prizes. His work has appeared in several museums, including the Museum of Modern Art's Traveling Exhibition, as well as in multiple galleries in California, Texas, New York and Washington, DC. |
