| | Born in St Malo, France on March 26, 1790. As commander of the French ship, Le Heros, Duhaut-Cilly sailed from Le Havre to establish trade with the Canary Islands and California. He stopped in several California ports during 1827-28. The sketches of his California visit were reproduced in his book, Voyage Autour du Monde (Paris, 1834).
