This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Hugo Carlborg (Oct. 11, 1892- Feb. 11, 1962) was a sculptor and craftsperson who worked as a bronze sculptor for Gorham Manufacturing Company in Providence, Rhode Island.

He studied at Rhode Island School of Design (Class of 1915) under Albert Atkins and also with Henry Hunt Clark.  He taught classes in jewelry and silversmithing and jewelry and fabricated design from 1924-44 and 1945-51 at RISD. He was a member of the Providence Art Club.

Brown University:
1. Designed the Brown University mace

Providence Public Library:
Bronze decorative plaque in lobby--in commemoration of William E. Foster, first librarian (1932)

1. Pencil/ink/watercolor, "Books of sketches" (20th c.) (acc.# 80.161)
2. Metalwork--tea service (acc.# 78.069.1)

Town Hall, Burriville:
1. Two bronze decorative plaques in entry (stamped Gorham Mfg. Co.--likely to have been designed by Carlborg, who also worked as a sculptor in the bronze and silverware dept. of Gorham Mfg.)
