This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Esau J. Halow   (1860 – 1935)

Esau J. Halow was born in Syria in 1860.  He studied art in Italy and the date of his arrival in this country is unknown, but he settled in Chicago and began displaying his work in that city.  He became well known for his art and received many commissions.

Halow lived in Jackson, Michigan around 1918.  He moved onto Philadelphia for a short time before settling in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. There he continued to paint, but his main occupation was as an art dealer.

His paintings were exhibited in Eastern galleries, such as the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.

Sharp’s Creek, a luminous depiction of a spring morning, is owned by the Jackson Public Library.
