From Kralove, Czechoslovakia, Boza Hessova, known in America as
Beatrice Hess, became a portrait and landscape painter, and early in
her career was a muralist and commercial designer. She studied at
the Prague Art Academy, and emigrated to America in 1913 from
Paris. She worked for several years in Chicago at Marshall Field
Department Store and also painted murals for nearby churches.
In 1928, she moved to Los Angeles where she became a member of the
Painters & S (showing 500 of 741 characters). |
