Ruth Joansson was an easel painter for the New Deal WPA Federal Art Project* for the state of Illinois (see 1990 Mavigliano, George J.; Richard A. Lawson The Federal Art Project in Illinois, 1935-1943, page 123)
Her married name was Ruth Shadburne and she continued to paint and exhibit throughout out her life as Ruth Shadburne, and R.J. Shadburne.
