A teacher and sculptor, Elizabeth MacLean-Smith was an instructor at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston from 1940 to 1953, and for three years, she was a teacher at Bradford Junior College in Haverhill, Massachusetts. She lived in Charlestown, Massachusetts.

Her education included Wellesley College (A.B.); a traveling fellowship of the Belgian-American Education Foundation; School of Museum of Fine Arts Boston with Frederick Warren Allen and a Sturdivant Traveling Fellowship to Mexico in 1941.

She served five terms as President of the New England Sculptor's Association and was a member of the National Sculpture Society.

The National Sculpture Society lists her in their historical archives as an Elected Fellow in 1957 with a death year recorded as 1986.

She is listed in Who Was Who in American Art by Peter Hastings Falk.

She is listed in the records of the School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston as Instructor under Frederick Warren Allen starting in the Fall of 1943 and ending after the school year in the Spring of 1946.

She wrote a paper on Frederick Warren Allen of which I have a copy.
