From Quebec, Canada, Mariette Rousseau-Vermett was Director of the Canada Conference of Arts in 1958.  She was a Professor of Tapestry making at the Art Center Ste-Adele, Province of Quebec, from 1952-56 and Professor of Tapestry, Center Art Laval, Province of Quebec, beginning 1970.

Rousseau-Vermette studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts, Quebec and in Oakland, California at the California College of Arts and Crafts.  Memberships included the Royal Academy of Canada, Montreal Musuem of Fine Art, World Craft Council, and the Association of Artist Professionals.

She participated in four Biennial exhibitions in Lausanne, Switzerland, 1962, 1965, 1969 & 1971; Other exhibitions were Quebec & Ontario, The Contemporary Group Painters Centennial Exhibition, 1965; 300 Years of Canadian Art, National Gallery of Art Canada, 1967; Museum of Modern Art, 1969; Museum Beaux Arts, Montreal, 1971; Marlborough-Godard Galleries, Montreal, Province of Quebec, 1970s; Marlborough-Godard Galleries, Toronto, Ontario, 1970s 

Among recognitions were First Prize Province of Quebec Art Contest, 1957; Canada Art Council traveling bursary, 1967; Cultural Institute Rome, Italy bursary, 1972-73.
