An accomplished draftsman in her early 20s in the 1960s and 70s, Sharrow produced lyrical abstractions before she returned fully to her signature poetic and vigorous figuration. Born April 28, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois, Sharrow won a full scholarship to the Art Institute of Chicago, studied under Boris Anisfeld and Joseph Hirsch and earned a BFA in 1948. At AIC she said “the smell of oil paint was like perfume” and that the highest praise given by an instructor was that she “p (showing 500 of 1994 characters). |
