This biography from the Archives of AskART:
A teacher at Ladywood School, Indianapolis as of 1947 and art instructor at Providence High School, Chicago in 1959, Sister Camille Ostendorf was born in Vincennes, Indiana.  She was a painter, designer, graphic artist and craftsperson. 

In Indianapolis, she studied at St. Mary's of the Wood College, earning a B.A. degree in Art. She earned a Master's Degree in Art from Northwestern University and also studied at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington DC, the Chicago Academy of Art and the Art Institute of Chicago.  Among her teachers were Oskar Gross and Gordon Mess.

She was a member of the Hoosier Salon and Indiana Art Club, and exhibited at the Hoosier Salon in 1932 and 1940; John Herron Art Institute, 1934, 1935 and 1942; Indiana Art Club, 1935 to 1939; and in 1959 at the First Archdiocesan Religious Art Exhibition, held in Washington DC.
