| Born in Los Angeles, California, she graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles. She studied art in Paris with Andre Lhote and at Columbia University. In the 1930s, she was an art teacher in Los Angeles at Alexander Hamilton High School and then for many years headed the art department at Valley College. She spent her final years at Laguna Niguel, California.
