| Painter and craftsperson, Harriett Sophia Phillips was born in 1849 in either Delta or Rome, New York. She studied in Munich with Fehr, Paris with Simon, and in New York City. She was a member of the Kunstlerinnen Verein, Munich; National Arts Club; New York Society of Craftsmen; New York Society of Painters; and Pen & Brush Club.
Phillips exhibited at the Armory Show, 1913; Munich; Paris; Society of Independent Artists, 1917-21. Her work is the collection of the University of Akron.
