| An Ohio sculptor and professor at Ohio State University, he became Professor Emeritus. In 1950 he was awarded the Joseph Sullivant Medal, Ohio State's highest faculty award, established in 1920. At that time, Frey, as well as his student Charles A. Csuri, were the only artists to receive this award.
