This biography from the Archives of AskART:
The following information is from the artist, March 2013.

An artist who depicts industrial and urban subjects that are usually devoid of the human figure, Joe Santos is influenced by the Precisionist painters, as well as the Bay Area figurative painters.  Much of his work borders on the abstract with an emphasis on design and composition.

He was born in Los Angeles, California in 1965, and was exposed to art at a very early age by his father, artist, Phil Santos.  It was his father who bought Joe his first set of watercolors, and he immediately became 'obsessed' with the medium.

After graduating from Pasco High School in Washington State, Joe returned to Southern California, and between 1984 and 1986 attended Golden West College where he continued his art technique and design studies.  During these years, he also worked in the graphic arts field and in his father's studio.

For 21 years, Joe resided in Orange County, California, but in 2004, he moved back to Eastern Washington.  Since 1988, he has worked exclusively in watercolor, and in 1999 he decided to devote himself to fine art.

Since 2001, Joe's, watercolor paintings have been exhibited in over 35 national shows including the American Watercolor Society International Exhibition in New York City, and the National Watercolor Society Annual Exhibition in Southern California.

Joe Santos is a signature member of the American Watercolor Society.
