This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| Born in Germany on March 6, 1886. While a resident of NYC in the 1920s, Haass made trips to California. A view of the Santa Barbara Mission is extant.
He died in Orange, California on January 3, 1959.
The following additional information was submitted by Niels Reimers in July of 2006:
Fridolin Haass lived in Carmel, California in at least the forties. My parents ran the Carmel Inn, a very modest inn of about 20 rooms, where Mr. Haass stayed for a period. He paid, at least in part, for his room with 2 watercolor paintings. One was painted from his room at the Inn, of our cottage home (now a restaurant). The other is from behind the 13th green of the Pebble Beach golf course, toward the ocean and Point Lobos.
