| | Born in Chicago, IL on Sept. 19, 1899. Van Rensselaer came to Los Angeles with his family in 1902. After graduating from Manual Arts High School, he became a cartoonist for the Examiner in 1918 and later established his own commercial art firm which he operated until 1934 or longer. He died in Ventura County, CA on Dec. 22, 1972. | Source:
