Born in Chicago, Illinois on June 1, 1907. After a brief career as a boxer, Waiss worked as an artist for the Rocky Mountain News and Denver Post until the 1930s. A self-taught artist, he then was an animator for Walter Lantz and later an animator on Walt Disney's 1940 classic, Fantasia. He died in Thornton, CO on July 17, 1990.
