| Active from 1850 to 1877, John Bachman was a landscape draftsman and lithographer, and his town views are considered some of the finest of the 19th century. I
n 1850 he did a view of New York City, and in 1851, a birds-eye view of New Orleans. Shortly after he returned to the East Coast and was in Brooklyn (1858); and Hoboken, New Jersey (1859). He also did town views of Boston and Superior, Wisconsin.
He worked for several firms including Sarony & Major and Peter S. Duval.
