Frederick  Ladbrooke (1810-1865)

Born at 3 Surrey Street, Norwich on 26 November 1810 and baptized at St John Timberhill six days later, youngest son of artist Robert Ladbrooke (1768-1842) and his second wife Ann née Dorey, who married at St Andrews, Norwich on 27 September 1808.  A member of the prolific Ladbrooke family of Norfolk artists with whom he was probably trained as an artist.  As a young man he moved to Bury St. Edmund's where he kept company with Edward Robert Smythe [q.v.] in his Bury period.  In 1841, living on Angel Hill with his 28 year old wife Emma and 7 year old daughter Louisa; also living in the house were the Westrup family, probably Emma's relations, and at the same address on their own account ten years later.

A rustic painter who exhibited four pictures at the Society of British Artists including The Errand Boy.  In 1861 an 'artist', together with his 50 year old wife Emma, were lodging at 28 Angel Hill, Bury St. Edmund's, the home of Charlotte Westrup, a baker.  Ladbroke was buried in Bury St. Edmund's cemetery on 12 October 1865, aged 52 [sic] and his wife followed on 26 February 1886, aged 78.
