Born in Detroit (1895), he perfected his art in his native city's School of Fine Art. He was a member of the National Academy of Design and the Salmagundi Club, and has exhibited at the Smithsonian and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art. The United States Information Service sent a traveling exhibit of his work abroad. Meissner's prints can be found in the Library of Congress, the New York Public Library and the Baltimore Museum. He died in 1977.
