Adolf Methfessel (b. 1836- d. 1909)
Born in Bern, Switzerland, he finished an apprenticeship as a gardener before taking his first drawing classes in 1856 during a stay in Brussels, Belgium. Since his parents did not approve of the idea of his becoming a painter, he went to Berlin, Germany to study garden architecture. In 1864, Methfessel went to Buenos Aires, Argentina to work as a garden architect. He also worked as a scientific drawing specialist and served as draw (showing 500 of 896 characters).
