István Szentgyörgyi began training as a stone cutter in Zurich.  He studied sculpting at the School of Arts and Crafts together with Karoly Antal.  He was a pupil of Van der Stappen at the Brussels Academy from 1905 until 1910, where he created his most successful sculpture ‘Complaint’ as well as ‘Snake Charmer’.

After his return to Hungary, he modeled a series of portraits.  In 1925, he started teaching at the arts school.  Fourteen of his statues are i (showing 500 of 998 characters).
