Fernando Beorlegui (1928-2008)
A realist painter of the late 20th century, he was born on January 21, 1928 in Navarre, Spain. At the age of 15 he visited the Prado Museum, and from the on, Goya's work influenced his own painting. In Pamplona, he studied with Gustavo de Maeztu. Between 1951 and 1952, he continued his training in Madrid, and then moved to Logroño where he studied sculpture at the school of Arts and Trades until 1956.
A professor of drawing and member of several artists' groups, he exhibited in Madrid and other Spanish cities.
Beorlegui died on January 6, 2008 in Eibar after a long illness.
