Julius Victor Carstens (1849-1908)

Julius Victor Carstens was the son of the doctor Joachim Hermann Carstens and was born in 1849 in Nuts in Lübeck.  He was known as a genre, history and landscape painter.

Carstens studied at the Weimar Art School, genre painting with Paul Thumann, and history painting with Ferdinand Pauwels, whom he accompanied on trips to the Netherlands and Belgium.

He later lived and worked in Munich, and often exhibited in the Munich Glass Palace (showing 500 of 740 characters).
