Please note: Artists not classified as American in our database may have limited biographical data
compared to the extensive information about American artists.
Adrien Étienne Gaudez was born in Lyon, France on the 9th of February 1845 and died in Neuilly-sur-Seine on the 23rd of January 1902. He was a student of François Jouffroy at the Ecoled de Beaux Arts* in Paris in 1862. Adrien Gaudez made his debut in the Paris Salon* in 1864.
Later, in 1870 he was a prisoner of war in Germany in the town called Magdenburg. During this period he sculpted the monument to the French soldiers who died in captivity. The monument was raised in the city’s cemet (showing 500 of 1153 characters). |
