This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Born in England on February 22, 1866. By the early 1890s Hodges was resident architect at Stanford University where he designed the Memorial Arch and buildings on the campus. He was with the university until the earthquake in 1906. He then continued in private practice in Palo Alto until the onset of the Depression of the 1930s. He then retired to Orange County, CA where he remained until his demise on March 12, 1943.
