A First World War soldier for Vienna, and then an emigrant to Germany, Theo Matejko became one of that country's most famous combat artists and highly paid illustrators.  Described as a "master of action", he regularly contributed military drawings to the official German Army, Navy and Air Force journal, Die Wehrmacht

Among titles of his ink drawings for this journal were Women and Children First ( a mother lying dead by her child in a stroller); Dive (showing 500 of 719 characters).
