Esther Peretz Arad (1921-2005)

Born in  Bulgaria, Peretz Arad came to Israel as a child.  In 1937 she began her studies painting with the late  Israeli painter Aharon Avni.  Since 1959 she had many one-man shows in Israel.  The select group exhibitions include the 1960 roving exhibition in the US under the patronage of the Foreign Ministry and the Tel-Aviv Museum; 1966, Hermitage Museum, Leningrad.  She received the Israeli Dizengoff Prize in 1956.

She  worked in every possible medium applicable to the fine arts: oil, lithography, etching, chalk, watercolor, collage, and even sculpture, which she studied with the late Yitzhak Danziger.  She worked in the figurative style and drew her inspiration from nature focusing primarily on the quality of line, the splash, the flow, and the composition.  She was a member of the Israel Painters and Sculptors Association.

Peretz died in May 2005.
