This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, Alberta Shulz attended the University of Texas, "the only girl in her art class." She studied at the Herron Art Institute in Indianapolis, Indiana University, and the Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, Florida. She later moved to Nashville in Brown County, Indiana where she studied with Adolph Shulz, an early founder of the Brown County Art Colony.

In 1926, after the divorce from his first wife, artist Ada Shulz, Alberta and Adolph were married. The couple regularly visited Florida in the winter months where she was a long time member and two-year President of the Sarasota Art Association.
