This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Laszlo Szilvassy was born in Hungary in 1925.  He studied art and architecture at the University of Budapest.  In 1946, he joined the staff of the Hungarian State Opera House as artist & junior designer.  He exhibited at Budapest Galleries in 1944 to 1947.

In the summer of 1948 he emigrated to England and had his first English exhibition in 1949.  Between 1950 and 1967 he worked as an artist, designer and photographer with the major ballet companies.  During that time he exhibited at various London galleries.

He emigrated to Canada in 1967, and became 'stills photographer' for the motion picture industry in Toronto.  During the next 10 years he worked in this capacity for major Canadian and Hollywood production houses (Wedding in White; The Black Stallion, and White Dawn). He also exhibited at art galleries in Toronto.

 - He created several copper relief murals and a limestone carving for Cadillac Fairview. 5000 sq. ft. of copper murals and three large paintings for the First Canadian Place in Toronto for Bank of Montreal .  A granite fountain with bronze eagle for Olympia & York, Springfield, Mass.  The Queen's Quay Terminal Building houses a painting and a bronze sculpture. He also fulfilled two artwork projects for Olympia and York in Hartford, Conn.

In June-July 1994, he exhibited at the Bloomsbury Gallery of the University of London, England.

Other Commissions:
1985 created 17 Bronze sculptures for the West Edmonton Mall.
1966 - 7 Large scale copper and bronze murals for Inducon Developments Corp. in Toronto and in Lagoon City.  Worked on murals & sculptures for private clients in Toronto.
