This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| Pherne was the niece of the famous Poet of the West, Joaquin Miller. She was born in 1890 and died in Salem, OR in 1979. She taught Art Classes in Washington DC and in Oakland, CA. Pherne was an expert on the works of her famous Uncle Joaquin and sometimes gave lectures and donated some of his papers to the University of Oregon and the University of Iowa.
