This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| Please note: Artists not classified as American in our database may have limited biographical data
compared to the extensive information about American artists.
Jacob van der Croos was a Dutch painter active in Amsterdam about 1690.
He was a landscape painter in the direct succession of Anthony
Jansz. van Croos (1604-1663), and consequently in the style of Jan van
Goyen (1596-1656). He did not adopt A.J. van Croos’ mannered style of
painting foliage, and in general, his work is brighter and coarser; the
landscape and figures are typical of the second half of the century.
