Peter Lowe was born in London, England on June 17th 1938. He attended Goldsmith’s College from 1954-60 and was taught by Kenneth and Mary Martin. From 1962-64, he taught at Leeds College of Art and then in 1965, began a lectureship at Goldsmith’s College until 2000. He also served as a teaching assistant to Kenneth Martin at the annual Barry Summer School in 1963-68.
Lowe began constructing his abstract work in 1960, and in 1972-74 created his first Volume and Void constructions. Since 1963, he has published several writings and in 1981 designed a set scene for the film Plus Echo. He currently lives and works in London (February 2008).
Peter Lowe has been involved in numerous group exhibitions primarily in Continental Europe beginning in 1957. He also has works in public collections throughout Europe.
