Biography from Ella Walton Richardson Fine Art:
Rick Reinert grew up in Northern Indiana and began painting at an early age; his formal study took place at Western Kentucky University in the early seventies. Breezing through all the art courses and ignoring the basic courses, he found himself out of money to continue his studies and joined the U.S. Army.  Stationed overseas in Germany, he continued painting, and his efforts cumulated with a solo exhibition in Wiesbaden, Germany in 1978.

Following a European separation from the Army, Reinert immigrated to Canada in 1980 and continued to paint large, bold, expressionistic works.  That same year, he had another solo exhibition in Toronto in an old factory section of town that had been converted into galleries and studio spaces.

With a renewed passion, Reinert began in the late 90’s to study sunlight in nature and through individual study that included books, studio work, and plein air exercises designed to push his comfort level.  Visually describing light and shadow in nature has become the tireless focus of his work.

Reinert has received the following awards: “Best of Show” in the 2007 “Southern Light Paint Out,” second place at Disney World’s “Festival of the Masters,” and Merit awards at Piccolo Spoleto outdoor exhibition for the past two years.

His work has been featured twice in American Art Collector magazine.  His painting, Southern Radiance, was selected for inclusion in “Oil Painters of America” national exhibition in Missoula, Montana in May, 2008.
