| Levont is an artist of Armenian descent, born in Lebanon. He holds a bachelor's of Fine Arts degree from Concordia University majoring in drama. His love for the dramatic eventually led him to paint the images that permeated his imagination.
Some of his paintings are inspired by operas while others – for example the 2007 series- just celebrates in various forms his fascination with shapes and forms that comprise the universe. His intention is never to make a beautiful painting but rather to create a work of art that stands on its own merit and that represents his subjective reality.
To over analyze his art or to search for some hidden deep-seated meaning or messages in his works would be missing his intention. His paintings are what they are. Like the artist says, "It's pretty much how an apple is just an apple. My paintings are what they are and I hope you like them and you attribute to them what the meaning that you see in them."
Levont has been holding private exhibitions in Montreal for the past 12 years. He has also shown his work in the United States and Belgium. He was also chosen to show his works at the Hummingbird Center in Toronto to help raise funds for the Canadian Opera Company.
