This biography from the Archives of AskART:
The following information, submitted November, 1912, is from the artist.

William Brant has spent a lifetime in art. Initially trained as an illustrator, he earned a BFA in Painting from Massachusetts College of Art, then an MFA in Painting from Syracuse University. Deciding to focus his career in education, Bill devoted more than forty years to teaching.

He retired from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 1999, when the College conferred the rank of Professor Emeritus, and named the William Brant Gallery in his honor. For the past several years, Bill has offered drawing, color and collage courses through Flagler Adult Education Program and Hollingsworth Gallery, both in Palm Coast, FL.

Along with his teaching, Bill has maintained his professional career with painting exhibitions and gallery shows, including The Addison Gallery of American Art in Andover, MA and Union Carbide Corporate Headquarters in NY. Other professional credentials include art commissions for hotels, restaurants and computer games, manuscript reviews for art book publishers, and private lessons.

Primarily an oil painter and colorist, Bill's work has evolved through abstract expressionism, to explorations of perspective and genre, to commentaries on modern perplexities. He defines himself as “ a sometimes whimsical and provocative colorist”.
