A self-taught artist, he was working at first exclusively in pen and ink, then some years later branching into watercolors.
Christopher Paul Bollen was born in 1943, in Seattle, Washington. His family moved to California when he was three, and returned to Seattle when he was sixteen. After graduating from Queen Anne High School, Christopher attended the University of Washington on an Athletic Scxholarship, majoring in advertising.
Immediatedly after college, Christopher joined the United States Marine Corps. Completing his flight training he went to Vietnam as a helicopter pilot, where he flew 667 missions and was awarded twenty six air medals. He then served as a pilot instructor at Santa Ana, California and it was there that Christopher began to seriously develop his talent as an artist. He retired from the service in 1972 as a Captain, and returned to his native Northwest, where he pursues his art full time. He loved the Pacific Northwest and most of his works reflect that great scenery.
