This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| Please note: Artists not classified as American in our database may have limited biographical data
compared to the extensive information about American artists.
A late 19th and early 20th-century seascape and landscape painter, many
of them watercolors, and especially of scenes of Normandy and the
French and Italian Rivieras, Georges Thornley was the son of a Welsch
immigrant. He was especially noted for his watercolors, his
impressionist style and for engravings and lithography.
He began exhibiting his paintings in 1878.
