Rogier Van der Weyden (1400-1464)
Along with his contemporary Jan van Eyck, Roger van der Weyden was one of the leading Flemish painters of the Northern Renaissance during the 15th century. Influenced by the works of Robert Campin (Master of Flemalle), and Jan Van Eyck, he was active in Florence and Ferrara, as well as Brussels. Renowned for his slender elegant figures and interior perspective, he is best known for his colourful panel paintings, usually altarpieces, on Biblical subj (showing 500 of 11046 characters). |
